The 2009 PolyU Education Info Day was held successfully on 26 September, attracted around 28,000 visits. It is an annual event of the University to provide prospective students, teachers and the general public with in-depth details of its programmes as well as the characteristics, strengths and achievements of its various departments and schools through exhibitions, seminars, demonstrations and guided visits.
C.Y. Tung ICMS was opened to the public on the Info Day. To enable participants to have a better understanding of its teaching facilities, research projects and consultancy service, 4 sessions of guided tours were arranged.
Highlights of the tour covered panel displays, TV slides show as well as visits to the three state-of-the-art laboratories at the Centre, including ship maneuvering in a virtual environment at the Marine Simulation Laboratory.
On the Info day, the Centre also warmly received a Chinese delegation comprising governmental officials and high school principals from various cities (including Beijing, Harbin, Changchun, Shenyang, Shengzhen and Guangzhou). The visit provided a good opportunity for the Centre to promote its activities to the mainland institutions.
