In order to promote exchange and research collaboration with the State Key Laboratory for Manufacturing System Engineering (MSE), ICMS delegates including Prof. John Liu, Dr TL Yip and Dr Xinyu Sun visited Xi'an Jiaotong University on 7-9 July 2009. The delegation received a warm welcome from Prof. Yingluo Wang, Prof. Linyan Sun and Prof. Gengzhong Feng of MSE.

Highlight of the visit was a joint seminar organized on 8 July. Four presentations were given:
(1) Idiosyncratic-risk characteristics of port-focal logistics by Prof. John Liu
(2) Group competition of global ports by Dr TL Yip
(3) The effect of risk aversion on manufacturer promotion in a two-stage supply chain by Dr Gang Li
(4) The optimization packing problem, by Dr Xiaolei Dong
The seminar provided a good platform for views and experience sharing, and there were fruitful discussion between presenters and attendees.

The visitation was concluded with a discussion on logistics application and training on 9 July. Both parties agreed to pursue further cooperation in the areas of efficiency benchmarking of Logistics Parks, port industry reports and industrial training.
